🎮 ABOUT THE GAME
My Perfect Hotel is a hybrid casual game, primarily monetised by ads. But there are also things you can buy in the game, and, hats off, the team does a great job explaining why you might want to spend your money (worth a separate post).
📵 ’NO ADS’ MONETIZATION TEMPLATE
One of the IAPs is a ’No ads’ offer. By spending 9.99 Euro, you can get rid of annoying interstitials and banner ads.
Here’s what’s smart about their ‘No Ads’ monetisation template:
1. They don’t just sell you the ‘No Ads’ feature — they also give you extra gems when you buy it. We’ve tested this at Balancy, and it turns out that banners that offer virtual currency along with ‘No Ads’ work better than ones that only say ‘No Ads’.
2. The second trick is discounting. The initial price set for this offer is 9.99 Euro. However, after a while, they offer a 15% discount. If you still don’t buy – here is your 30% discount. This is a cascade pricing strategy and it can considerably improve your conversion into the first payment.

🙊 PRICING FLAWS IN MY PERFECT HOTEL
Now, let’s talk about some flaws. In the first banner with a 15% discount, the price is still 9.99 (kind of disappointing, right?). In the second banner, they do offer a discount, but let’s do some math. With a 30% discount, the offer should be 6.99, not 7.99.
It’s a bit strange that a game with such a big audience (it’s the #2 top-grossing hypercasual game) missed this mistake, and their support team hasn’t heard any complaints.
